Holiday Reminiscing with the B’s
Mrs. B’s Bemusements
In September, I start asking hubby what he wants for his birthday, since it falls during the holidays as does our anniversary, and what he wants for Christmas. I do this so I know how much extra grocery money I need to pinch money I need to start saving.
Sept. 1
Mrs. B: “Is there anything special you want for your birthday or Christmas?"
Mr. B: “No.”
Sept. 10th
Mr B proudly shows off his latest purchase of some kind of electronic tool, appliance, computer component, motorcycle part, etc.
Sept. 15th
Mrs. B: “Do you want to do anything special for our anniversary this year?”
Mr. B “I don’t know.”
Sept. 30th
Mr. B proudly presents me with some kind of jewelry, computer, game, or appliance "just because."
Repeat the above for the month of October, November and December.
Nov. 1st
Mrs. B: “Our anniversary is coming, do you want to take a trip or make dinner reservations?”
Mr. B: “I don’t know”
Our anniversary comes and I get a card, a present on the years we decide to exchange gifts. That night he sometimes decides we should have gone out for dinner usually as I’m placing the dinner plates on the table; the day after he usually complains that we should have gone away for our anniversary.
His birthday comes and goes. I usually buy him crap because he bought everything he wanted himself.
When he turned 40 I planned a surprise party knowing full he would probably hate me since he is not a party guy. Three weeks before the party he somehow found out or figured it out. He told me if there was a party he would not show up or he would get there see the party and leave.
