All That Glitters Is Not Gold

She liked the finer things in life, especially jewelry. Throughout their time together he had spoiled her with lavish gifts… and this year was no different. Since they had been at each other’s throats, he felt a bit guilty. To show how much he cared, he went out and splurged on an expensive piece of jewelry that cost thousands.

“I’m giving this to you to show you how much you mean to me, and to thank you for you for all you’ve done for me,” he said emotionally.

The jewelry was so beautiful it left her in a state of shock and awe. She almost wept at his gesture. But the girl soon learned that all that glitters is not gold. Within a month, he had decided he wanted a divorce. She could keep the kids, but he wanted the jewelry back, along with her engagement ring.

She thought he was kidding at first, but she could tell by the look in her eyes that he wasn’t. Well, there was no way in hell she was giving the new gift or the engagement ring back to him. She would sooner pay for the gift than to put it back in grimy hands… and that’s just what she did. As for the ring, he’d have to pry that off her cold, dead hands.

She assumed the payments on the jewelry and every month she has a constant reminder of just how bad he screwed her over. He wanted to show her how much he cared., and boy did he ever.
