An Affair To Remember
The World According To Kiki & J-Fed
I had an amazing three day love affair. It was short but oh-so-sweet.
It all started on Friday night. I had the kids with me when I laid eyes on him. Because of that, I initially had reservations, feeling that it wouldn’t be appropriate to bring him home. But as I stared at his captivating smile, I couldn’t resist.
There was this allure that enticed me so. Once again I grappled with the notion of spending the night with him, guilt overtaking me. In the end, I went with my gut. The kids would be asleep and they wouldn’t hear a thing.
And so began the best three nights I’ve had in forever.
I rushed home, hardly able to contain myself. It wasn’t often that I had a new man in my life, and I was anxious to get to know him better. The first hour I had mixed emotions. He seemed okay. But then I saw him with the kids and I was mystified.
He got them their food. He played with them. He joked around. I quickly noticed how responsible he was. With each hour, I realized he might just be the closest thing to perfection I’d ever encountered.
For starters, he was smart. Over the next few days, I got to watch him work. It was amazing how into his job he was. He had a passion and a dedication. Although he was a bit distant, I knew it was something I could get past… and I did. I laughed many times throughout the next three days. It was as if my marathon with him went on and on. I couldn’t wait to get the kids to bed at night so I could spend time with him. I hung onto his every word. I gazed at his every move. Deep in my heart though, I knew time was running out. Soon it would all be over, and I’d be alone again.
More than likely, we would never this extended period of time together again, at least not for another year. I’d see him once a week and that would be it. I knew there was a good possibility I’d lose interest over time. I’d get busy or distracted, and I’d likely forget about him. The notion saddened me. I hadn’t felt this way about someone in a long time. He was so entertaining.
