Breaking The News
Miss Ogamy and the Men
Spring break is fast approaching. As of spring break this year I will be 20 weeks pregnant. That same week my mother will be flying in from Florida to help me find a new apartment and move. She had no idea how deeply involved I am with my boyfriend, Mr. Excitement, much less that he and I are having a baby together.
I broke the news to her on Tuesday. It went much better than I expected.
“You’re screwing up your life again,” she said.
“Neither you nor Excitement are capable of raising another baby right now,” she said.
“You need to consider adoption,” she said.
I kept a strong face through the conversation. Then, as I shut the phone, I broke down. Excitement cradled me in his arms like a child.
“She’s just in shock. She’ll feel differently when she holds the baby in her arms.” He assured me.
“I feel like she hates me. She’s so disappointed!” I sobbed.
“I know,” he whispered into my hair. “I know.”
