Come On, Guys

Justice & Truth Reigns

I hear the same old story over and over again, “I didn’t know she was so unhappy.” Come on, guys! When you’re treating your partner like dirt, how can you NOT KNOW that she’s miserable with you? I can’t believe anyone’s that obtuse. Let me try to put myself in your shoes for a minute...

I go out every night. I don’t come home until 3 a.m. I spend money like water so you can’t afford to buy groceries. I tell you you’re boring and unsexy. I spend hours on the phone with my friends but won’t give you the time of day. When I come home, I make huge messes but accuse you of being a slob.

I leave all child care to you, then criticize the way you raise our kids. I decide to start meeting a female “friend” for lunches... then dinners... then movies. When I tell you nothing’s going on, I call you a bitch for not believing me. You’re in counseling, and you finally tell me you want a divorce. OH MY GOD, HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???!?!?

Reading the paragraph above, I think it’s obvious the person you’re with is going to be unhappy if you act like a damn monster. You KNOW you’re acting like a beast -- you just decide not to admit it out loud for one reason or another. So please, stop for a second and examine how you’re treating your partner. And if you’re acting like a jerk (or worse) you have a few choices. Start making changes, get out of the relationship, or wait to hear the words, “I want a divorce.”

And if you choose not to make changes, don’t be surprised when you hear those words.
