Continued Apathy

Miss Ogamy and the Men

The apathy of our current social worker continues to astound me.

Friday afternoon I picked up my son’s medical records from his pediatrician. By Saturday I was feeling pretty good about the situation. I had in my hand a three page document clearly stating the dates that the abuse had occurred on, based on the doctor’s assessment of the bruises, as well as the doctor’s report stating that abuse had clearly occurred.

I had charted out on a calendar the days that I had Bubba in my custody, including the times when I had picked him up and dropped him off and the dates in which the abuse had occurred. It clearly fell within my ex-husband’s custody. With such irrefutable evidence, surely the social worker would realize that I had no hand in abusing my son and therefore it must have been my ex-husband. My son would be removed from his care and placed in my loving home and everything would be okay.

The social worker answered her cell phone promptly and I immediately launched into an explanation of the detective work I had been doing on my own.

“I picked up a copy of Bubba’s medical records yesterday. The doctor wrote down what days she believes the abuse occurred and it clearly falls in Perfect’s custody.”

“Well, I still want both you and your boyfriend to abide by the contract you signed and attend parenting classes.” The social worker quickly responded.

“I have no problem with that.” I answered. I paused, waiting for the social worker to tell me that she would review her files or she would be needing the medical records or SOMETHING. At last I asked her, “Do you have a copy of the medical reports?”

“No, I don’t.” she answered.
