Independence Bites!

The World According To Kiki & J-Fed

Kuku and Kiki did it again.

On our last adventure together, my mother and I set her car on fire, after burning one of J-Fed’s phone bills while snooping. This excursion was hardly as entertaining. However, it does go to show that the dynamic duo is downright dangerous together.

Here I was determined to spend my first Independence Day single in a special way.  Ironically, it’s a bittersweet celebration since the 4th of July happens to be the day when I got engaged to J-Fed seven years ago. Having only been apart five months now, I knew it would be tough on me. Yet, I had resolved to start focusing on the present. With this in mind, I decided to make the best of the holiday.

Somewhere along the way, things went awry. It all started when Kiki asked me to check the DVD player. I plugged the AC adapter into the lighter, got distracted and moved onto something else. About three hours later, I began to feel a bad case of hay fever coming on. I refused to let it keep me from venturing out. As we made it to the town affair, I sneezed continuously. As dusk fell, the baby, my dear nanny and I decided to go hang back at the car. It didn’t help that there were no tissues in sight and my nose was running like a faucet.

Bored, I turned on the XM radio and we kicked it a little to some music. Since the price of gas is so high, I didn’t fully start the car. Of course, I’d also forgotten that Kuku had made me test the DVD player, which was slowly but surely sucking the life out of my battery minute by minute.

As we gathered around the car to watch the fireworks display, I was ready to go. I had resorted to using a clean baby diaper to catch the run off from my nose. Dear nanny was also no worse for the wear as she was trying desperately not to pee in her pants. Was a fireworks display really worth all of this hassle? I mean, you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Yet we stuck it out. I sat there with anticipation realizing that we’d likely be the first car out of the parking lot if we hurried.
