Marriage Is A Dirty Job

Marriage is about compromise and sacrifice. Some of my sacrifices are fun -- a social life, regular sex, privacy -- but it didn't hit me until yesterday just how much I missed WHITE TOWELS!! Yes, that's right, white towels, along with white sheets, pastel colored sheets and towels.

Mr. B is sort of like PigPen from Charlie Brown, as in he is a dirt magnet. With the work he does, of course he gets dirty. But even his hobbies are dirty. This is a man who will use half a bottle of soap while washing his hands but dirt ends up on the towel and his hands still look dirty! Over the years the easiest way around this was to buy dark colored linens. Luckily I like dark colors, but c'mon, I AM a girl and the occasional pink towel would be so nice.

Our newest home has two bathrooms. Since we don't have children the downstairs bath has become his and the upstairs bath has become mine. This is HEAVEN ON EARTH!! I always have toilet paper. It smells nice. There are no towels on the floor. The shower curtain isn't ripped or full of hand prints. I have grown so used to this in the last few months that I've already told him the day I get pregnant he is building another bathroom; I refuse to ever share a bathroom again!

Anyways, yesterday I was changing the sheets and towels. As I gazed into the linen closet of black, navy, maroon, violet, something caught my eye  waaay in the back. It was 2 lonely white JCPenney towels. Should I dare? I got so excited I started to do a little dance in the hallway. I was even able to find a white hand towel.

I started to giggle as I went into the bathroom, hanging them all so neatly on their racks. They looked so pretty in my palm tree-themed girls bathroom. Then I got second thoughts since hubby does occasionally use my bathroom, even if it's just a morning pee or a poke around for Q-tips, bandaids or something else he ran out of and forgot to ask me to replace.
