Ouch!
Tales of a Newlywed
Well I got hurt, and on my first wedding anniversary too. I can now add concussion to my list of life experiences. I was very angry with him for bailing on our NYC trip at the last minute, but I decided to forget it. I took the weekend off and I was going to do something fun. I wasn’t trying to let him off the hook. I was only trying to let myself off the hook.
I didn’t want to spend the whole weekend angry. That only hurts me, and it won’t make him change anyway. So, I decided to forget it and just have a good time. I decided I wanted to go skiing. I am from the south, and am very new to living in the north, the snow, and the cold. I had never been skiing before, but knew I wanted to try it. He had been one time before.
We went to this hill about 45 minutes away from our house. It’s a place where everyone in town goes every weekend. I rented my skis and then got a quick crash course to learn how to stop and turn and things like that. I was nervous, but figured it would be okay. I decided I was just going to take it slow, take my time, and get used to the skis on my first time down. I started up the ski lift for the beginner path.
While I am carefully making my way down, he is flying down the hill. Then he comes back up to go down the hill again. I am still on my first time down, just going slow. He starts yelling that I am not skiing, and that’s not what I am supposed to do. I said “Well I am not ready to go very fast like you yet, maybe after a few times down.” So then he starts yelling that if I am not going to ski then this whole thing was a waste of money. He yells directions at me on what I should be doing, and how to ski.
This goes on for like 10 minutes. I just keep telling him to go away. I say, “You can ski fast if you want, but I want time to get comfortable first.” Finally, he goes. While he is going up the lift for another ride I get hit from behind by a super fast snowboarder. The guy was going so fast he didn’t even slow down when he hit me, he just kept going.
