Rich Girl

The World According To Kiki & J-Fed

It's on. After a brief respite, J-Fed and I are back at it -- hotter than ever. The arguing that is. What brought on this sudden change you might ask? Why, the almighty dollar, of course.

we all know that times are tight. Gas is $4 a gallon, and milk is $5. Grocery shopping is the equivalent to highway robbery. I feel the urge to bend over at the register every time the smiling cashier presents me with my grand total. Just recently I read that you could feed a small child in a third-world country for like $10 a month. I'm thinking the same doesn't hold true around here -- that $10 bucks wouldn't get me til Tuesday... if I'm shopping on a Monday.

I've even considered putting the girls on a diet of rice and beans, but then I'm not sure how well that would fit on their silver spoon.

You see, that is the issue with the Fedster after all. Now, that I've moved to a new area, I've had to re-evaluate the kids school situation. I'm putting out a whopping $70 in gas a week just taking them back and forth from school. Not too mention, the time lost doing the the trek in traffic. My mom, KUku, has been using my car to do the chauffering, but soon she'll be gone for the summer. This means picking up and dropping the kids off will be a solo mission.

The first decision I made was to put daughter into a daycare right next to the house. It's going to cost me an extra $25 a week, but it's going to save me about $50 a week in gas. Makes perfect sense to me.

The second decision was to possibly enroll our 6-year-old into the church school next to our neighborhood come fall. I figured out a way to finagle the cost of the school for the upcoming year, namely because the public school in our district is horrible. Then there's the fact that she can't make any friends in our new area since she goes to an elemtary school in a different city. So I decided to broach the subject with J-Fed. Mind you, I had no intention of asking him to pay a dime toward the private school. I was just sounding off.
