Something Shocking Has Occurred

My son just finished 6th grade. He’s a good student and always gets good grades. At the end of every school year, I usually buy him a gift to celebrate. This year, he really wanted a Wave board. Now, these things cost $100.00, and I felt that was a bit out of my budget.

I decided to call the ex and see if he wanted to split the cost of it with me. I figured, rather than spend money on separate gifts, why not pool our resources and get him something he really wants? My son rarely asks for any type of high-ticket item.

I took a deep breath before I made the call. I expected to be ridiculed, called names, and be accused of a myriad of wrongdoings. Shockingly, no such thing happened. The ex said, “Sure. I’ll place the order.” That was it. No huge fight. No dissertation on all I had done wrong.

I even handed him the cash without any fanfare the next time he came to pick up our son. He even thanked me when I handed him the money!

That, my friends, is TRULY shocking.
