Stuck In The Middle With You

The World According To Kiki & J-Fed

The times are changing... and they're changing fast.

There comes a point in life when you have to take a giant leap of faith. Well, I've reached that point. I'm moving in with Mr. Ex. Yep, I sure am. As for the kids, well, they'll have to find their way. I've found a nice couple who've happily agreed to take them on as their own.

Ok, jokes aside. It's not just me moving in with Mr. Ex -- it's the whole kid and caboodle. The baby, daughter and Big Boy, my dog. The only person who isn't coming with us on this new journey is J-Fed. Give it a few more weeks, and I'm sure he'll try. I can just hear it now.

"But Kiki, can't I come too?" he'll plead.

At first, J-Fed was livid about my imminent move. He tried every trick under the sun to hinder my plans. There were idle threats. There were empty promises. It got nasty for a day or two. But in the end, he acquiesed and accepted the reality. I'm sure there's nothing easy about dealing with the fact that your two daughters are going to living under the roof with another man. But it is what it is.

It's a big move for me, especially since I'm used to having autonomy. But as a wise man has reminded me over and over, nothing worth having ever came with no risks. As I pack up the boxes, I'm sad to bid farewell to the house I loved so much. I'm sure I'll find some nice family to rent it out to who'll enjoy all of the blood, sweat and tears that J-Fed and I poured into the house.

But no matter how green the grass is on the other side, it's hard to say goodbye to yesterday. I still feel a bit of remorse that I couldn't save my family, my home or my life. Despite the sadness though, it's all about new beginnings.

Of course, moving means packing and lots of trips from one house to the next. So that's where I'm at. Little by little, I'm removing my things, and the house is becoming emptier by the day. It's easier that way. Slow and steady wins the race.
